Supporters Gather for Project Update June 28, 2014

A dedicated group of over 30 donors gathered today at the Sutter Street Steakhouse for an update on the project provided by Jeff Ferreira-Pro. The goal of completing the fundraising for the purchase of the property on Sutter Street by no later than September, 2014 was set forth. Accomplishing this goal is critical for the project to proceed and, if not met, the site for displaying the history of the Chinese in Folsom will need to be re-evaluated. We remain hopeful that the project will be able to proceed as planned but it is necessary for the community to come forward with greater financial support no later than September, 2014. Thank you to everyone who attended today's event and for pledging to help! And many thanks to the Sutter Street Steakhouse for hosting the event and to Raley's, Safeway and Loretta Hettinger for providing the great food!

Chan House Update – newly named “Chinese Heritage Museum”

As the committee has reached out the community for support we found that the project would best be served by a name change to reflect it's broader purpose, to reveal the history of the Chinese presence in the Folsom area.  The Chan family has approved the re-naming of the site to show their support for the mission.  The site will henceforth be known as the Chinese Heritage Museum.chineseartifactsfolsom
