Chinese Heritage Museum
Making it a reality
For the past few years, the Heritage Preservation League of Folsom and the Folsom Historical Society have been working with members of Folsom’s Chan family to preserve their former home, one of the last remnants of Folsom’s Chinese heritage from certain demolition. The goal is to restore the house, and its garden, so it can be used the Chinese Heritage Museum:
- To preserve and display local Chinese artifacts found during the 1999 construction of Folsom Lake Crossing.
- To tell the story of Chinese in 19th Century California.
- For academic research on Folsom and California ethnic history.
- To commemorate the impact of Chinese and other Asian immigrants on the history of Folsom and California.
